Perform specific content

A performance is something your character delivers exactly as planned, every time, such as a scripted greeting with a wave, a product pitch, or a song with a dance. You decide what the character says, either lines you write or a recording you upload, and what it does along the way, such as gestures, movement, and camera shots.

Performance or everyday behavior?

Use a performance when	Describe everyday behavior when
The words and moves must be the same every time.	The character should respond to what the viewer just said.
You have a recording, such as a song, that the character must match.	You want a general style, such as “nod while listening” or “gesture more when excited”.
The timing or camera work must be exact.	The character should improvise within its personality.

While a performance plays, the character sticks to the script and doesn’t respond to the conversation. For gestures that follow the conversation, describe the behavior instead; see Start from scratch.

Create a performance

Describe the content

Tell the agent what the character should say and do, in order. Put spoken words in quotes, and say where each gesture happens.

Create a script with a wave, a self-introduction, and a closing nod.

Script a wave on "Welcome" and a nod at the end.

Attach audio for songs or recorded lines (optional)

Upload the recording and describe the moves that go with it. The character lip-syncs to the recording and makes the moves at the moments you describe.

Animate the character with this recording and add matching gestures.

Say when it should play

Tell the agent when the performance should start:

At the start of a conversation, as an opening.
When a viewer picks it, for example from a list in the character’s app.
When a viewer asks for it in the conversation.
As part of a show, where several performances play in order.

Watch it in the live preview

Open the Live preview panel, click Talk to character, and start the performance. Watch it to the end. If a gesture is missing or comes at the wrong moment, tell the agent which line or moment to fix.

Put several performances together into a show

For a tour, a lesson, a song set, or a product show, ask for a show. The agent works out the order, what happens between items, and how viewers can jump to the one they want.

Create a three-song set. Open with a short greeting and a wave, then play song 1, song 2, and song 3 in order with a full-body dance for each. Let viewers pick a song from a list to jump to it, and end with a bow and a thank-you.

Tell the agent what should happen if a viewer interrupts the show: stop, pick up from the same item, or start over.
